Can I buy a tract of land even during the Shmitta year? Yes! Land can still be purchased during the current Shmitta year, which started this past Rosh Hashana, 1 Tishrei 5767, 13 September 2007.
How much does it cost? Each individual can purchase small tracts of the land, measuring “dalet amot” (2 x 2 square amot) for a nominal fee of $180 per tract .
How do I purchase the land? Buyers can click here to order the tracts of land. After making your online order, users must download the attached form, sign it and fax or send it to the number and address indicated. Order online by clicking here.
Where is the actual land located? Can I visit my plot? The land is located near Zichron Ya'akov - Block 11326, Parcel 29-30 (map of the area). During the shmitta year, owners are welcome to visit and photograph the land.
What do I receive? Every purchaser will become the rightful owners of the land from the date of purchase until the end of the shmitta year. Each person will also receive an attractive certificate detailing their ownership.
What happens after shmitta? At the end of the shmitta year, the land will automatically be returned to Shomrei Shvi’it and individual ownership of plots will cease.
